Dr. Kim’s expertise includes retinal tears and detachments, macular degeneration, macular holes and puckers, diabetic retinopathy, intraocular tumors, ocular trauma, uveitis, retinal vascular diseases, and retinopathy of prematurity.
Dr. Kim is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
He is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Kim has authored multiple scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented at numerous ophthalmology meetings.
He is very active in ophthalmic education, previously serving as Chief Resident, Associate Director of Ophthalmic Education, and Assistant Director of the Ocular Trauma Service at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary.
During his fellowship at the Barnes Retina Institute, he was selected to receive the Golden Apple teaching award by the Department of Ophthalmology at Washington University in St. Louis. He currently teaches at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology.
Additionally, he serves as Vice Chief of the Ophthalmology Section and Director of Pediatric Retina at Northwest Community Hospital.
